Black Tea: Bold, Classic, and Full of Benefits
Black tea, along with green tea and coffee, is one of the world’s most popular and stimulating beverages. It comes from the same plant as green tea (Camellia sinensis), but its dark color and intense flavor result from a full oxidation process.
It contains antioxidants called polyphenols, which help combat free radicals in the body. Some studies also suggest that moderate consumption may support heart health and improve concentration. A cup of black tea has roughly half the caffeine of a cup of coffee, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a gentle boost without overloading the nervous system.
Historically, black tea was so valued that it was even used as currency in Asia for centuries.
At Kombucha Republik, we use a blend of green and black tea to achieve the perfect balance: the freshness and smoothness of green tea combined with the depth and intensity of black tea.
The black tea we use is Orthodox, which refers to the traditional processing method designed to preserve the leaves’ natural quality and characteristics. This method includes steps like withering, rolling, oxidation, and careful drying, maintaining the tea’s unique flavors and aromas. Orthodox black tea is renowned for its complex and refined taste, with notes ranging from floral and fruity to robust and earthy.
